Geoffrey Orsak, dean of the Bobby B. Lyle School of Engineering at Southern Methodist University, is leaving.
Starting July 1, he’ll be president of the University of Tulsa.
SMU’s president, Gerald R. Turner, praised the 48-year-old engineer as an innovative administrator who has influenced engineering education not just at SMU, but well beyond.
“Under the leadership of Dean Geoffrey Orsak, the Lyle School of Engineering has established new academic programs, constructed new buildings and helped K-12 school districts prepare students for collegiate engineering studies,” Turner said in a news release.
“Most of all, he defined and educated a new type of engineer, one who combines technology with a sense of social responsibility.”
