A three-year faculty compensation agreement has been approved by the Southeast Community College Board. Faculty will receive an overall 3.36% increase in compensation, the first year of the agreement. That includes salary, health coverage and retirement.
That brings average salary and benefits at SCC to $64,334. The board voted 8-0, with one abstention, to approve the agreement, at a meeting on the Lincoln Campus, Tuesday. Board member Steve Ottman, who will retire from the faculty this summer, abstained.
SCC has used a mutual gains bargaining process since 1982, and Ottman feels the process works better than pitting each side against one another.
