Jay Simmons will succeed John Byrd as Simpson College’s president.
The Simpson College Board of Trustees approved Simmons’ appointment as the college’s 23rd president Monday.
Simmons, 50, has been president of Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant for the past four years. He will succeed Byrd, 62, who is retiring after eight years. The transition will officially occur in May at the end of the current academic year.
“Dr. Simmons will bring to Simpson College exactly the right set of skills necessary to build on the momentum created by John Byrd’s eight years of leadership,” said Fred Hubbell, chairman of the Simpson Board of Trustees, in a news release.
