The power is back on at Sierra College and class will be held today after a bird-blamed outage on Tuesday.

Woodpeckers who drilled holes in a power pole necessitated a shutdown of power at the Rocklin campus about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. The birds, who are known to live in some power poles and hide acorns in others, nearly toppled a power pole in a nearby nature area.

Pacific Gas & Electric crews were called upon to replace the damaged pole. The work is all done, although the campus website may not function until after 9 a.m.
