Shutdown may force military to drop out of college

The federal government shutdown is affecting military members also enrolled in college classes.

On Friday, Lackland Air Force Base advised service members receiving higher education tuition assistance to drop out because there is no money to fund the program.

In a post on the base's Facebook page, which has provided information on shutdown services throughout the week, officials recommend students withdraw from classes or find alternative funding.
