Saint Joseph’s University and campus card service provider CardSmith today announced plans for a major expansion and upgrade of the campus ID card program for the University’s Philadelphia, Pa.,campus. The new Hawk Card will offer SJU’s 9,000 students convenient, cashless access to an expanded range of campus facilities and services including the bookstore, dining venues, vending machines, print and copy services, mobile payments, campus offices and off-campus merchants. The card can also be used for facility and library privileges and can be used as a bank debit card. The University is upgrading its card production capabilities and will be issuing new ISO-encoded digital image cards to all students. Campus-hosted card systems previously utilized for ID card transaction services are being retired. The program is scheduled to go live in early July 2012.

The new Hawk Card is powered by CardSmith’s managed, cloud-based transaction system, enabling SJU to provide campus-wide transaction services without local systems, software or dedicated administrative staff.
