Saginaw Valley State University Expands Reach, Draws 60 Percent Of Students From Outside Saginaw, Bay, Midland Counties

Saginaw Valley State University has grown from a regional college to one that attracts students from all over the state.

It’s part of a deliberate effort to expand SVSU’s reach, said J.J. Boehm, SVSU communications director.

While 40 percent of SVSU students are from Saginaw, Bay and Midland counties, 60 percent are from outside the region.

Students from the Great Lakes Bay Region remain core of the university, said J.J. Boehm, SVSU communications director.
