Brice Harris, who has led the Sacramento community college system for more than a decade, announced today he will retire.
Harris, 63, said he will step down as chancellor of Los Rios Community College District at the end of August. His 16 years at the helm of the district makes him the longest-serving chancellor in the district's history.
In a letter to district employees announcing his retirement, Harris said that it is the right time for another person to take over.
"We have several years before our next accreditation, our strategic plan has been recently updated, our building program is well underway, our collective bargaining agreements are current and out student success indicators are on a positive trajectory," Harris said in a press release.
