After serving at the head of its law school for more than half of its existence, David A. Logan this week announced that he plans to step down as law school dean at Roger Williams University and return to full-time teaching.

“From the moment I set foot on campus, I was impressed by the law school’s energy and potential,” Logan said in a statement released Thursday. “I saw a talented faculty and staff and a solid student body, but also a clear need to help
RWU Law build a reputation for quality in the bench, bar and legal academy.”

Logan's tenure of 11 years places him among the 15 longest-serving law school deans in the country.

According to information provided by the university, Logan oversaw the school's attainment of membership in the Association of American Law Schools and an increase in the rate of graduates who pass the state bar exam.
