Roger Williams University has joined other colleges and universities nationwide to make standardized tests optional for college admissions.
The Providence Journal reports (

Brian Clark, public relations director for Roger Williams, says a significant percentage of high school seniors don't perform well on standardized tests. He says many other factors play a stronger role in a student's ability to succeed in college.
In Rhode Island, the SAT and ACT tests are optional at Providence College, Salve Regina University, Bryant University and Johnson & Wales University.
