Reps don't want undocumented immigrants to get in-state tuition

A pair of House Republicans hope to overturn a recent decision by the Ohio Board of Regents to require that undocumented immigrants with temporary legal status get in-state tuition rates at all Ohio public colleges, so long as they meet other residency requirements.

The Regents issued the requirement three weeks ago, after immigration advocates asked for the change for immigrants who are part of the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. That program says that immigrants who arrived in the U.S. before age 16 could get two years of legal status that can be renewed, allowing them to work and drive without fear of being thrown out of the country.
