The University of Miami already stood on tenuous ground with the NCAA. A new report released Friday evening muddied already murky water for the embattled Hurricanes football program.
This time current staff members, including head coach Al Golden's name, appeared in the report from Yahoo! Sports.
Sean "Pee Wee" Allen, a former close associate of infamous Ponzi schemer and ex-UM booster Nevin Shapiro, was an equipment manager in Golden's program who allegedly provided impermissible benefits to recruits, the report stated. An unnamed former Miami staffer and Allen's federal testimony in Shapiro's bankruptcy case indicated Golden had direct knowledge of the violations that allegedly involve several members of the current Miami team and one assistant coach, the article stated.
Golden denied the allegations through a statement released by the school Friday night.
