Des Moines University educators spend the majority of their time preparing health care professionals to go into the world to enhance and save lives.
To its administrators, there’s nothing insular about that mission: extending services to the community is a key way the university prepares its students and gives back to local residents as well.
Angela Walker Franklin, DMU’s president, said one of the university’s ongoing goals is continuing and strengthening its outreach to the community.
The school recently completed a multiyear strategic plan that included “a very deliberate and focused vision around community service,” Franklin said.
