Gov. Pat Quinn has appointed a senior adviser from within his administration to lead the Illinois Board of Higher Education.
Lindsay Anderson, an attorney who most recently was an adviser to Quinn and chairwoman of the Illinois Campaign Finance Reform Task Force, will replace the board's current chairwoman, Carrie Hightman.
The 16-member board approves academic programs for the state's colleges and universities and administers state and federal grant programs. The agency also collects data about students and colleges in Illinois.
