Proposed 'Iconic Building' At Univ. of Alabama in Huntsville On Hold Because Of Lack Of Funding

The construction of what was once described as an "iconic" building for the University of Alabama in Huntsville campus is now on hold.

A new building for the Center for System Studies at UAH was announced amid much fanfare in May 2010 with former Gov. Bob Riley making a campus appearance to talk about an $8 million commitment from the state.

At the time, Riley said he was seeking a commitment from U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Tuscaloosa, for the balance of the money for the $25 million facility. Groundbreaking was anticipated to be later in 2010.

But the project has stalled.
