The construction of what was once described as an "iconic" building for the University of Alabama in Huntsville campus is now on hold.
A new building for the Center for System Studies at UAH was announced amid much fanfare in May 2010 with former Gov. Bob Riley making a campus appearance to talk about an $8 million commitment from the state.
At the time, Riley said he was seeking a commitment from U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Tuscaloosa, for the balance of the money for the $25 million facility. Groundbreaking was anticipated to be later in 2010.
But the project has stalled.
