Panopto, a leading video platform provider, today announced that Sean Gorman has joined the company as Chief Operating Officer (COO). A veteran digital technology executive, Gorman has more than 20 years of experience helping Microsoft, Amazon and others bring disruptive technologies to market.  As COO, Gorman will lead Panopto’s sales, business development and operations.

“Panopto continues to expand rapidly in the enterprise and education markets,” said Eric Burns, co-founder and chief product officer of Panopto. “As global demand for online video platforms increases in the years ahead, Sean’s track record of developing sustainable technology businesses will help us accelerate growth while meeting our customers’ needs.”

Gorman has played a key role in developing innovative digital media businesses such as Amazon’s Kindle and Microsoft’s Xbox. Most recently, he was the director and general manager of Amazon’s Newsstand business where he transformed the e-ink newspaper model to a tablet magazine business, more than doubling Newsstand digital revenue.

“Panopto is revolutionizing online video with groundbreaking software backed by a skilled and experienced leadership team,” said Gorman. “I am pleased to join Panopto, and look forward to helping democratize the way video is used as a strategic asset within the enterprise and education.”
