A former Augusta State University administrator has stepped in as Paine College’s interim provost and vice president for academic affairs.
Samuel Sullivan, a retired vice president at the former ASU, was named by Paine on Tuesday. The move comes less than one day after Marcus Tillery, who served as Paine’s provost and vice president for academic affairs since June 2011, left the college without explanation.
Vice President of Institutional Advancement Brandon Brown would not say if Tillery was fired or resigned from the position.
“It is the policy of the institution not to comment on personnel matters,” Brown said at a news conference Tuesday.
