Our Lady of Holy Cross College, the Algiers school that had faced the loss of its accreditation after its president and board of trustees were fired last year via email, today was removed from probationary status by the regional organization that certifies schools' academic credentials. The action occurred during the annual meeting of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges in Chantilly, Va.
The college, which had been put on probation in December after a commission investigation, submitted a report to the private organization to clarify the way its leadership structure works.
"Whatever documentation they provided was sufficient to demonstrate compliance with (SACS') standards," Commission President Belle Wheelan said today.
