Oregon college the first in U.S. with 100 percent on-site renewable energy

Oregon Tech, also known as Oregon Institute of Technology, now generates all of its electricity from renewable energy sources located on its Southern Oregon campus.

It's believed this is the first time an entire higher education campus has accomplished the feat in the U.S.

Oregon Tech has long operated geothermal plants that generate heat for its buildings. By converting the plants to also generate electricity and completing a 2 Megawatt solar array, all of the university's energy needs are met on-site, making it a net-zero energy campus.
