A former Old Dominion University professor has settled her sex discrimination lawsuit against the school for $15,000, according to a spokesman for the state Attorney General’s Office.

Linda M. Gagen was an assistant professor in the department of exercise science, sport, physical education and recreation from 2002 to 2009. She claimed in her suit that she was denied a promotion and tenure due to her complaint of unwanted sexual advances by a colleague.

According to a court filing, the school said the “alleged behavior” by the colleague ended three years before she came up for tenure. Gagen argued that the colleague retaliated against her by trying to thwart her promotion.
