Ohio State University emergency department to get $4.8 million makeover

When Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center opens its new critical care and cancer tower in late 2014, the emergency department will double in size and feature all new construction and equipment, even the half that’s in the existing University Hospital.

University trustees on Friday approved a $4.8 million renovation of the existing emergency department that was made possible because the new tower’s construction manager, the Columbus office of New York-based Turner Construction Co., has determined it will finish the expansion’s ER interior six months before the rest of the 21-story structure.
