The University of Nebraska Foundation has purchased a 7,000-square-foot home for $750,000 to serve as the official residence of the university president.
The foundation closed on the home at 2810 S. 27th Street in Lincoln on Friday, according to Dorothy Endacott, director of communication for the foundation. It was paid with private funds – “including a major gift,” Endacott said.
The University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved a plan last September to allow the foundation to buy a home for the president. NU provided an official residence for its leaders for 30 years, but the home burned down in 1996 and wasn't replaced.
