Gary McCollum, rector of Norfolk State University's Board of Visitors, said Friday that he's been sharing good and bad news lately.
The bad news: McCollum will be stepping down from Norfolk State's board, a position he's held since 2007. The good: He and his wife of 20 years are expecting a girl in September.
McCollum serves as senior vice president and general manager of Cox Communications and will be keeping his day job, he said. The "boss" - his wife, Cookie - asked him to cut back in other areas. McCollum has an adult daughter from his first marriage.
"We're excited and overjoyed," McCollum said.
