North Dakota Higher Ed Board Eyes Streamlining Plan

Members of the state Board of Higher Education are hoping the next legislative session is less confrontational.

Board President Grant Shaft is proposing a new initiative to streamline the North Dakota University System so members can show legislators the system continues to be efficient – a plan that calls for combining services and looking at ending some programs.

“Although we’ve received outstanding funding from the Legislature, the process of getting there has been awfully contentious,” Shaft said.

During this month’s board meeting, Shaft presented a draft of his proposal called “Maximizing Results through Efficiencies.”
