NMSU to fund up to 60% of lottery scholarship students' spring tuition

New Mexico State University will fund up to 60 percent of tuition for students on the state Lottery Scholarship next spring, hoping to ease students' uncertainty before state officials decide how to address the nearly drained fund when the legislative session begins in January.

The New Mexico Legislative Lottery Scholarship's shortfall has been a topic of legislative bills and discussion for years, but no action has yet been taken to address the fund's current deficiency.

Enrollment for next semester has already begun, yet the state has not announced whether it will fund all, part or some of scholarship recipients' tuition in spring 2014.
