N.J. Assembly Budget Committee To Consider Christie's Higher Education Plan

The Assembly Budget Committee is set to take a close look this week at Gov. Chris Christie's plans for higher education spending.

A hearing in scheduled for Wednesday on the department's budget proposal.

Higher education is getting more scrutiny than usual this year, due to Christie's plan to reconfigure the state's higher education institutions.

Under his plans, Rutgers would absorb parts of the University and Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. What's left of the medical university would be renamed the New Jersey Health Sciences University.
