The University of Alabama's new President Guy Bailey said he wants Alabama to continue to be an "institution of choice" and an institution where students can afford to get a quality education.
In a press conference this morning at the Amelia Gayle Gorgas Library on the UA campus, Bailey, the former president at Texas Tech, said he is impressed with the growth in student enrollment and plans to be active in student recruitment, as was former President Robert Witt.
Bailey said he, like university presidents everywhere, would like to keep tuition at reasonable rates.
While state subsidies factor into tuition costs, Bailey said, "We will do everything in our power to keep our costs under control."
