The University of Minnesota, Crookston, said Monday that Fred Wood will be the campus’ new chancellor.
He’ll start July 2 as the campus’ chief academic and executive officer if the university system’s Board of Regents approves.
Wood comes to Crookston from the University of California, Davis, where he has served in various leadership roles for 26 years, according to UMC. His last job was vice chancellor of student affairs.
The first person in his family to attend college, he earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1980 and a doctorate in inorganic chemistry in 1984, both from UC Davis. He spent two years as a tenured faculty member at North Idaho College, a small community college, before returning to UC Davis as vice chairman of the chemistry department.
