Daniel Martin, the president of a Christian liberal-arts university in central Ohio, has been chosen to become the 10th president of Seattle Pacific University since its founding in 1891, succeeding Philip Eaton, who is retiring.
Martin is president of Mount Vernon Nazarene University, which has 2,500 students. He will take over as president of SPU, also a Christian university and which has 4,000 students, on July 1.
"What is most inspiring and attractive perhaps, is the belief that SPU's mission can truly change our world," Martin said in a prepared statement. "SPU's vision of engaging the culture and changing the world is an idea that forms the very essence of what a Christian university should be."
