As the new president of Northwood University-Florida, Tom Duncan plans to help grow the campus, which has about 700 students and specializes in managerial and entrepreneurial education. He’ll have to raise money to do that.
“Both of those are right up my alley,” Duncan says.
His experience includes five years as president of Bethany College (later Bethany University) in Santa Cruz, Calif., where, under his leadership, student enrollment grew from less than 495 students to more than 720. During his tenure, the college also began its first master’s program and enlarged its programs to reach non-traditional students.
He balanced budgets, he says, by working closely with the board of trustees, fellow administrators, and faculty — resulting in a surplus to the college.
