A high-ranking administrator at a New York college has been named the first woman president of New Jersey City University.
Sue Henderson's appointment was announced Monday night during a special board of trustees meeting. A mathematician and longtime educator, Henderson now serves as chief operating officer and vice president of institutional advancement at Queens College. She was selected after a national search.
Henderson, who will be the university's twelfth president, is expected to start her new job in early August. She will succeed Carlos Hernandez, an environmental psychologist with extensive public service experience who has led the university for 19 years.
