An administrator in the statewide system that runs Delgado Community College was picked Wednesday to be chancellor of the New Orleans school that is the most populous local institution of higher education. Monty Sullivan, the Louisiana Community and Technical College System's executive vice president, was the unanimous choice of the system's board at its meeting in New Orleans. Sullivan, 40, who was at the meeting because of his system job, was the only finalist present. The other two candidates were Jonathan Gueverra, chief executive officer of the Community College of the District of Columbia, and Teresa Smith, vice president for administrative services and chief financial officer of Tallahassee (Fla.) Community College. Sullivan said the first thing he wants to do is conduct a series of meetings with students, faculty, staff and community leaders "to see what they want (Delgado) to be."
