Montgomery County CC President Emphasizes Business Community's Role In Higher Education

Partnering with a business helped Montgomery County Community College open its new University Center in Pottstown earlier this month.

Developer Vesper Property Group purchased a vacant building steps from MCCC’s West Campus and worked with the college to design and renovate classroom and administrative space for a program that helps adult students earn four-year and master’s degrees in Pottstown.

MCCC President Karen A. Stout told the membership of the TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerce Thursday morning in Royersford that the public/private partnership formed to create the Univesity Center is a prime example of the kind of entrepreneurial collaboration that can save the “American dream.” Stout was the keynote speaker at the inaugural membership breakfast of TCACC’s program year, held at Spring-Ford Country Club.

According to Stout, institutions like MCCC are looked to by the business community to provide job training and “generally helping Americans reclaim the American dream, one county at a time.”
