Montclair State University police are investigating three incidents in the past week in which someone wrote threatening, anti-gay messages in a note and on the walls of the student center.

The most recent was discovered Monday on the wall of the first-floor women’s restroom near the Rathskellar cafeteria, which said "Fags will die on 2/7," according to an e-mail Montclair State University president Susan Cole sent to the student body today.

On Friday, a note was left under the door of the student center room that serves as the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Center, according to the e-mail. The day before, a message was written in marker on the wall next to the LGBT Center.

"These actions are grossly unacceptable in our community and a clear violation of university policies, as well as the basic tenets of human decency," Cole wrote in the message. "A bias incident is a criminal act, and anybody found responsible for such actions will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
