Monmouth University has narrowed its search for a new president to four finalists, including a top administrator from New Jersey Institute of Technology, school officials announced today.

A 16-member search committee ais looking for a replacement for Paul Gaffney, who is stepping down as president of the West Long Branch-based private university in June.

The finalists are: Paul Richard Brown, dean of the College of Business and Economics at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania; F. Javier Cevallos, president of Kutztown University in Pennsylvania; Stanley (“Stas”) C. Preczewski, vice president for academic and student affairs at Georgia Gwinnett College in Georgia; and Donald H. Sebastian, senior vice president for research and development at NJIT in Newark.

“The search committee has been impressed with the exceptional pool of candidates seeking the position of the presidency,” said Marcia Clever, trustee and co-chair of the search committee. “It has been difficult to choose the finalists because of the high caliber of individuals who applied for the position.”
