Michigan State U President Lou Anna K. Simon Declines Pay Raise For Fourth Consecutive Year

For the fourth straight year, Michigan State University President Lou Anna K. Simon has abstained from a pay raise.

The MSU Board of Trustees had wished at its Friday meeting to give Simon a "significant salary increase" due to her "strong and dedicated leadership." Simon turned it down, though, citing MSU's "challenging financial circumstances."

Simon's salary will remain $520,000 annually, which was set in 2007.

Simon and her husband Roy, who serves as director of MSU Telecommunications Systems, have a long history of giving back to the university.
