The days of exploring couch seats for quarters will be over soon for Michigan State University students who live in residence halls.
MSU students living in the dorms will enjoy free, unlimited laundry in all on-campus residence halls beginning this fall.
"We want our students to focus on what they came here to do and that is to successfully obtain a degree from MSU in a timely manner," director of residence education and housing services Kathy Collins said. "We want to make this journey about the learning, not about the laundry."
The average student does about 18 loads of laundry per semester, which adds up to about $90 per year, according to MSU. As a whole, students spend more than $1.3 million on laundry service in the residence halls annually.
