Medtronic exec will be Gustavus' first female president

Bergman will be the first female in that position when she takes office July 1, replacing retiring president Jack Ohle, the St. Peter school said in a news release.

Bergman has served on the college's board since 2007. She's been with Fridley-based Medtronic Inc. for 26 years, currently as vice president of research, technology and therapy delivery systems for the Cardiac Rhythm Disease Management business.

Bergman and her husband, HCMC Neurosurgery Chief Dr. Thomas Bergman, have four children, two of whom are or were Gustavus students.
