Massachusetts College of Art and Design's president is resigning

Dawn Barrett, president of Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, will take a leave of absence from the college effective immediately and will be resigning her position.

Meanwhile, MassArt's executive vice president Kurt Steinberg as of Friday is the college's acting president.

In a telephone interview, Richard Marshall, chairman of MassArt's board of directors, said Barrett's decision had to do with "personal reasons." Barrett was named president of MassArt in 2011.
