More than 750 alumni, faculty and students helped celebrate the opening Friday of Marquette University's new $50 million Engineering Hall.
The building, at 1637 W. Wisconsin Ave., is about 115,000 square feet and features 38 laboratories.
Junior mechanical engineering student Nelsy Hernandez was one of several students involved in the customization of the building - from the 12 student study areas to the quintessential coffee maker coming to the lower level.
"My engineering class of 2013 was asked to come up with ideas for the new engineering building to be centered on our needs," said Hernandez, who is from Venezuela. "Because I'll be spending a lot of time here, it's got to be a place I can call my second home."
