Inceptia, a division of National Student Loan Program (NSLP), announced today that Lone Star College System (LSCS) has selected Inceptia to provide default prevention services to its student loan borrowers.

Lone Star College System will work in partnership with Inceptia to help student borrowers who are struggling to meet their repayment obligations return to good standing, impact cohort default rates and meet default reduction targets. Through one-on-one counseling and understanding that no two borrowers’ situations are the same, borrowers will be offered a customized solution that motivates the borrower to correct their delinquency and encourages them to make payments.

“We believe this relationship provides a way for Lone Star College System to help keep successful students in good standing as far as their student loan pay back and to help at-risk students get back on the right financial path,” said Paula Jackson, LSCS associate vice chancellor, financial aid and veteran services.

Randy Heesacker, president and CEO, NSLP, said: “We are pleased to help the Lone Star College System take a proactive approach to reducing student loan defaults. The Lone Star College System recognized the need to provide students with the tools and resources to successfully help keep students in good repayment status while at the same time, lowering the default rates at each institution. We are proud to partner with the Lone Star College System and to help make a difference with their students and the families they serve.”

Our results oriented Default Prevention Outreach program provides student borrowers financial counseling to help them take the necessary action to resolve their delinquency and get back on track for repayment. We contact delinquent borrowers using multiple contact strategies, including phone calls, emails, texting (as allowable by law) and written correspondence. Services are provided until all accounts are either resolved or the account is defaulted. Our unique approach focuses each borrower on the immediate actions they will take to resolve their delinquency and long term decisions they need to follow through on to accomplish successful repayment. The terms of the agreement are for three years with an option to renew for two one-year periods.
