Legislation to dissolve Rutgers' Board of Trustees finds opponents at Rutgers-Camden

Senate President Stephen Sweeney’s proposed legislation which would eliminate Rutgers' Board of Trustees is catching more heat about its potential effects across the statewide university.

Individuals who had devoted themselves to saving Rutgers' Camden campus from the higher education merger proposed last year have refocused their efforts to speak out against the law.

The Senate bill was introduced by Sweeney last month, with the senator saying that the university’s nearly 250-year-old board is not a modern solution to Rutgers’ governing system.
