LEAP in Camden promises college tuition for 200-plus students

A charter school in Camden Wednesday announced more than 200 full-ride scholarships to Rutgers University for some of the city’s youngest academics.

LEAP Academy University Charter School committed to send 216 students — from kindergarten through 12th grade — to the state university, providing certain criteria is met.

It’s the first time the Alfredo Santiago Scholars Program will benefit children as early as kindergarten. The program is an endowment named after the late husband of the school’s founder, Gloria Bonilla-Santiago.
