Lawmakers, others weigh in on what higher education board needs to do

With a vote on whether to change the North Dakota University System’s leadership structure a year away, officials say it’s important to show that the current structure works.

The state Board of Higher Education chose Bismarck State College President Larry Skogen as the new interim chancellor last month. The board says rebuilding its working relationship with lawmakers will be important over the next year.

Lawmakers are in agreement, adding that efforts to keep rising tuition costs under control, promoting the positives of higher education, and and promoting the positives of the university system.
