Laptop Containing Private Student Information Stolen At Warren County Community College

A laptop computer missing from Warren County Community College contains sensitive student data including names and Social Security numbers, school officials confirmed Thursday. The breach is so severe that not just the current 2,300 students could be affected, but those who may have inquired about studying at the Washington Township school or attended in the past. President Will Austin said as many as 5,461 students or WCCC applicants could have their information compromised. An employee from the college’s financial aid office reported the laptop computer "missing and possibly stolen" Sept. 27, officials said in a letter to students.
