Kutztown University auditorium to reopen after 20-month, $20 million renovation

Kutztown University's venerable Schaeffer Auditorium, which in its 73 years has offered events as diverse as a performance by Billy Joel and a lecture by Dr. Jack Kevorkian, is about to reopen after a 20-month, $20 million renovation that increased its size by a third but kept its historic heart, officials said.

The project upgraded the building's main auditorium with a new sound system, seating and lighting while adding 14,000 square feet of classrooms, rehearsal halls, additional performance space, dressing rooms and more for a rapidly growing music program, the officials said.
