Jackson Community College considering dropping the word 'community'

Jackson Community College is moving ahead with plans to drop the word “community” from its name.

On Monday, May 13, the college’s Board of Trustees agreed with JCC President Dan Phelan’s suggestion that a recommendation to change the name of the institution to Jackson College be placed on its June meeting agenda.

College officials have been conducting focus groups with alumni, business people, current students and others from JCC’s main Summit Township campus, as well as its Lenawee and Hillsdale centers, Phelan said.
