Ivy Tech says funding gap grows amid cost-cutting

Even as Ivy Tech Community College consolidates its administrative staff, offers voluntary early retirements and increases tuition, officials say the college’s funding gap has widened to more than $80 million.

The college has calculated $83.1 million in deferred costs by adding up what it needs but can’t afford to do: Hire hundreds more academic advisers, double the number of full-time faculty, update equipment and expand programs that are in-demand but too full.
