Indiana University East is losing its chancellor to Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.

Nasser Paydar will be leaving his current post June 15 to become executive vice chancellor of IUPUI after joining IU East in 2007. He told The (Richmond) Palladium-Item, “I learned so much from the people I met here. Personally, I am enriched by the experience here. It’s been a great experience for me.”

Paydar began his career at IUPUI in 1985 as an assistant professor of mechanical engineering and has since held administrative positions at the university. He now returns to replace outgoing Vice Chancellor Uday Sukhatme, who is leaving to become the provost of Pace University in New York.

Students and colleagues at IU East told The Palladium-Item that the university has seen growth in revenue and student population during Paydar’s reign. They referred to him as a visionary and a leader who ensured transparency.
