Iowa State University President Wants To Raise $100 Million In His First Year

New Iowa State University President Steven Leath said Friday that he has set a first-year fundraising goal of $100 million as he makes such work a priority of his job.

Speaking on the Iowa Public Television program “Iowa Press,” Leath acknowledged raising that much money will be a challenge because the university just finished a large capital campaign.

But Leath, who came to Iowa State from the University of North Carolina, said he’s had success building public-private partnerships in the past.

He also said there will be management changes at Iowa State as he chooses someone to run the university on a day-to-day basis while he focuses more on external issues.
